Carson City is filled with miles of amazing hiking and biking trails. Now, get rewarded just by taking in the incredible views from area mountain trails, paved bike paths, and so much more! We've created the perfect pass to help you do it all and, bonus, there are options for every level athlete – from the novice hiker to the hardcore mountain biker! And, since we know the great outdoors can make you work up an appetite, you'll likely be hungry for more of what Carson City has to offer, especially its many culinary delights.

Be sure to check-in at each trailhead listed in the pass to be entered to win the ultimate Carson City Weekend Getaway! Filled with attraction passes, gift cards, hotel stays, and more, this is the perfect opportunity to experience Carson City. Each trail check-in gets you an additional entry into the drawing! Drawings will be done quarterly. Winner will be chosen by March 31st.

Buzzy's Ranch Trail
Beautiful hike along Carson River and through a working ranch. Views of Prison Hill and the Carson Range. Dogs must be on leash to protect migratory bird habitat and ranch operations. This trail is a part of the 5-mile Carson River Trail.

Carson River Trail
The "Carson River Trail" is a continuous 5-mile trail along the west side of the Carson River. This trail is completed by linking segments of five trails: Empire Ranch Trail, Empire Ranch-Riverview Park Connector, Riverview Park Trails, Buzzy's Ranch Trail, River Trail, and Mexican Ditch Trail.

Silver Saddle Ranch
Several trails around the historic Silver Saddle Ranch. Popular with equestrians. The "Ranch Shortcut Trail" connects Silver Saddle Ranch with Carson River Park. This is a working ranch -- watch for ranch equipment and livestock, keep dogs under control, and please leave gates as you found them (either open or closed).

Sagebrush Loop, Rabbitbrush Loop, and Bitterbrush Loop. Four-feet wide, with relatively low grades. May be an option for an adaptive mountain bike.

This short path connects the Jack C. Davis Observatory with the Western Nevada College campus. Along the way there are 12 sculptures, each displaying information about a different celestial body in our Solar System.

Tahoe Rim Trail
A hike to Carson City's highest point, Snow Valley Peak, VIA the Tahoe Rim Trail is about 12.5 miles round-trip and makes for a great day. Views of Lake Tahoe along the way, and views of Carson City from Snow Valley Peak. Carry plenty of water - there is no water available on this hike. Contact the Tahoe Rim Trail Association for information on hiking the entire 165 mile trail around the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Short hike to historic V&T RR grade and Foothill Trail. Benches and interpretive signs along the way. Note - the historic RR grade continues south to Coombs Canyon Road, but passes through private property. The City does not have a public easement for this segment of trail and travel here, though popular, is not authorized.

Waterfall Trail
Beautiful Kings Canyon Waterfall. Very popular, tends to be crowded, parking may be limited during peak periods. Hikers only, dangerous for horses!

Moderately Difficult Trails

Dead Truck Canyon Trail
This is a steep hike through a classic Great Basin desert canyon with interesting geology as this is the divide between the granitic south part of Prison Hill and the meta-volcanic north part of Prison Hill. Along the way you will encounter the canyon's name sake!

Wildhorse Trail and Pale Rider
The Wildhorse Trail and Pale Rider can be connected with the pole-line road to make a fun 2-mile loop trail. Southern exposure allows this trail to be accessible year-round. This is very rocky terrain, so be cautious, especially when riding a mountain bike. Wild horses are almost always present; do not approach them.
